I recommend the ascent along the Tominšek trail from the Vrata Valley for those who wish to experience the most beautiful views of the north wall of Triglav. We come to the valley from Mojstrana, then we drive past the magic Peričnik waterfall a few kilometers above Mojstrana. Driving into the valley Vrata is magnificent, as it is surrounded by numerous peaks. We reach Aljažev hut (1015 m) a little above the parking in the Vrata, from where the legendary view on the Wall of Triglav suddenly opens.
We continue on foot to a memorial in the shape of a piton and a carbine. There we turn crossover the torrent stream and continue the way steeply uphill, first in the forest then on the rocky slopes, where the trail has perfectly taken the way through natural crossings. The slope does not give up at all for a long time. As the forest dilutes, unforgettable views of the Triglav wall opens. The route is less frequently visited due to its hieght exposure. Coming across the goats is quite common.
When we arrive at a certain height, the crossing starts on slopes, which are protected by ferrata wires on the most exposed places. This beautiful trail joins the Prag trail just below the spring of the Begunjski vrh.
It is only a few minutes walk from there to Triglavski podi, which leads you through natural crossings to Slovenian highest hut Krederica (2515 m).
In the hut you are welcomed by friendly staff and weathermen who maintain our highest weather station. From Krederica the via ferrata route will take you first to Mali Triglav (2715 m) and then, following an exposed ridge, you'll reach the highest peak of Slovenia - Mount Triglav (2864 m). One can not describe the pleasant feelings that overwhelm everyone standing at the highest summit of Slovenia next to the Aljaz Tower. What stories have been carried by this Mount Triglav!
The Tominška trail to the summit of Triglav has 1900 altitude meters of ascent and about 9 kilometers in distance. Data shows that it is a serious Alpine tour. It is also necessary to prepare properly for the Mount Triglav. The ascent is about an average of 7 to 9 hours with stops. The tour can only be completed in one day in an excellent fitness condition. We invite the inexperienced mountaineers, who want safety first on the ascent to Triglav, to contact mountain guides UIAGM / IFMGA. We will help you to safely climb right to the top of Triglav.
